HECTIC: Mini Blender Recipes

September 27, 2012 By Alex Curtis, RD LDN

My magic bullet is a must-have college cooking device. It’s small, portable, doesn’t take up space, easy-to-clean, and makes a lot of different recipes for me so I won’t get bored! Any type of small blender would work, too, but the magic bullet is the only one I have experience with (please note that they are not paying me to write this post).

For today’s Healthy Eating College Tip Thursday, I will be highlighting a few of my favorite recipes with the mini blender. They are all easy and quick to make with minimal ingredients. Perfect for the typical college student!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites       Chocolate Almond Cookie Dough Bites

Chocolate Mint Crinkle Cookie Dough Bites                   High Protein Cookie Dough

Simply Hummus                                                     Raw Bloody Mary Flax Crackers

Strawberry Coconut Ice Cream Sundae                      Magic Banana Ice Cream

Healthy Chocolate Buttercream Frosting                      Healthy Orange Julius

All of the above are no-bake, and are easy to make in a college dorm.

Thought-provoking, mind-prodding question of the day:

What is your must-have kitchen appliance?

Also, do you have any favorite mini-blender recipes? Please share below! (links welcome)

Since apple season is upon us, I’ve been loving a protein apple pie smoothie (here’s the link: http://eatmovebalance.com/simple-apple-pie-smoothie/) I absolutely love my blender–it’s my favorite kitchen appliance.

I have to try that high protein cookie dough! It always looks so good, but I haven’t made your version yet (I tried a different version a while back–and it was good–but not excellent).

      Michelle,

I have never tried apples in smoothies! I’m sure it is good, though. Happy fall 😀

Hmmm, my favorite appliance would probably be my food processor or my blender, hard to choose just one. My favorite thing to make in the blender is smoothies, lately specifically this one my vegan pumpkin pie smoothie http://tasty-yummies.com//tasty-yummies.com/2011/10/05/vegan-pumpkin-pie-smoothie/
All of those cookie bite recipes you shared look amazing. I have to make some soon.

My blender, crockpot, and microwavable steamer are DEFINITELY some of my staples. I know I’ll be using those a lot when I get up to Idaho. 🙂

Hi Alex. Thanks for these blender recipes. I gotta do that chocolate butter cream frosting. I’ll be able to use it for my cakes.
