Family

August 26, 2011 By Alex@Spoonful of Sugar Free

I’m back from beautiful Colorado! Thanks to all of my Guest-Posters for filing in. I hope you enjoyed all of them.

The night skies were breathtaking:

{Looking out over the mountains at sunset}

{Denver, at night}

I enjoyed spending time with my family: playing football and tennis, cooking fajitas and cupcakes, running around with cousins at the park, and chatting until midnight.

It’s nice to be home and back in a regular routine, but I would love to spend another month together with my entire family-just enjoying their company. Looking back, I think this was one of my favorite trips of all time.

THOUGHT-PROVOKING, MIND-PRODDING QUESTION OF THE DAY:

When’s the last time you spent time with your entire family or had a family reunion? What did you do?

Do you see your family often? I wish I could see mine more than I do. We are all spread out: Colorado, Illinois, Arizona, Idaho, Florida, Iowa, Tennessee, California, everywhere!

    I visited my parents this summer and it was the first time in five years that I was together with both my brothers at the same time. It was superb!

    I love my family! My immediate family is all within a 5 mile radius right now and I cherish the moments with them. My more extended family are far away, Michigan and Nebraska. I usually get to see them once a year. That is sad. I did get to spend 6 months with my grands last year in Nebraska though. That was interesting! My first real winter.

    Glad you had an amazing trip Alex! Family is precious.
    It’s sad that as my family has gotten older it becomes difficult to get together as often. One side of my family is all generally from the same state so we see each other a few times a year. And the other side I haven’t seen in 10 years because they live far (it’s sad that distance is an excuse for a 10 year gap of time!). And my immediate family… all 3 of my brothers and I were only together ONCE last year because they are all over the world! So I’ve learned to really cherish family time over these past few years.

      Same with me! It’s been ten years since we have all been together-this isn’t just extended family, but close. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It is very sad….But we decided to make a better effort to do it more often-hopefully once a year!

    I’m glad your trip went well and I’m glad you are back. The guest bloggers you chose were very good. In your time away, So soy made a chocolate coconut milk. I just tasted some, so sweet, really bad so down the drain it went ! Never did I think it culd be that sweet. Such a shame. Same as Lifeway frozen kefir, down the drain.

    Wait I thought you couldn’t have sugar! But you had cupcakes. Now Alex if you have a sugar free cupcake recipe that you’re not telling us about then I am going to be angry with you. 😉 just kidding
