Welcome to the new series of posts,

“Healthy Eating College Tip Thursdays”

Otherwise known as HECTIC because college is just that.

I know the acronym doesn’t match up exactly, but HECTIC works a whole lot better than “HECTIT” or “HECTT.” It also describes my life these days perfectly.

Every Thursday I will be posting a new “Healthy Eating College Tip.” You do not have to be a college student, though, to benefit from these weekly postings. Anyone can use these tips because they will be based on fast and easy food choices.

Here are the links the HECTIC posts:

Found you site looking for no dairy no sugar cornbread. YAY!!! This site will be very helpful for me, I hope you keep it up! I have been dairy and sugar free since July 1st and even though I can digest gluten fine it was next on the list. LOVE YOUR SITE!!! Happy holidays!

I LOVE this site! I’m 22 and recently found out that I have a candida issue (and have had it all my life…), and many of these DELICIOUS recipes are candida-friendly! Thanks to you, I can enjoy food again!

I am a current college student and am constantly on-the-go. I want to be able to take fresh produce and meat with me to campus since I follow a strict gluten-free diet. The only problem is I am worried the food will not stay fresh throughout the day. Any tips, advice or any quick and easy recipes for a hectic schedule? Thanks!

I totally understand what you are trying to do. What I do is take a small, insulated lunch bag with a small freezer pack in it to keep it cold. It works just fine and doesn’t take up too much space for me. good luck!

Hi, I have been sugar free for 4 days now. Just getting over a massive headache and feeling much more clear headed already. I would love some advice. My dandelion root tea has dextrose and glucose in the ingredients. Is this ok or should i cut this out too??

    • Sugar Free Alex says:

There are many brands that sell dandelion root tea without dextrose or glucose, I would recommend trying to find those first. If you still feel ok with your current tea, though, and it doesn’t contain too much sugar, than it is probably fine to drink still.

Thanks for your website. I am on a month long detox from sugar, caffeine, (already gave up meat and gluten) and want to bake something healthy with all the peaches I have. All the gf recipes have at least a cup of sugar, which I don’t want to use. So thanks for the fruit desserts without anything bad. Yumm.

I found your site about a month ago, and have my Dr.’s ok to eat GF and Lf and SF. Love your home-made ketchup and have tried several of your recipes and even my husband enjoys eating like I do now. Thanks so much for all the great recipes. The only problem I have is how to eat gluten-free and lactose free on a 15 hr flight. Most airports do not sell GF foods. Any suggestions?

    • Sugar Free Alex says:

Sorry for the delay in response, your comment was lost in my spam folder! I always like to pack my own foods on a flight: nuts, seeds, fruit, homemade baked goods, cut-up veggies are all good choices. At the airport you can usually find fruit, hummus, meats, and nuts to-go. Hope this helps!

What a find! I’ve just started my sugar free plan (and caffeine, alcohol, dairy!) and I’m nearly a week in. This has given me some real food for thought! Can’t wait to try your recipes 🙂
